Vice President, Sales & Hotel Relations
In opening this month’s newsletter I am extremely proud to announce that LodgeNet has partnered with the AH&LA and the Department of Homeland Security to support their campaign called “If You See Something, Say Something”. Since November 1, LodgeNet systems have been reaching more than 1.2 million U.S. guest rooms a month with public service announcements that encourage anyone observing suspicious activity to immediately report it to the proper authorities.

More information can be found in this press release. We are proud to participate in this campaign to make travel safer across our country!
I am also excited to announce recent developments with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). IHG has chosen LodgeNet to help them accelerate their HDTV rollout by installing over 14,000 HD televisions in IHG properties. Additionally, we have been named a preferred provider of free-to-guest programming for IHG hotels across the U.S.
On behalf of all of us at LodgeNet, thank you for your business last year. We wish you all the best for a prosperous 2012!
Broadband Updates
Steve Pofahl
Sr Vice President
General Manager, LodgeNet Broadband
LodgeNet is proud to introduce LodgeNet Solve, a comprehensive on-demand reporting portal designed to complement the FREEDOM Internet solution offered exclusively by the LodgeNet Broadband group. With LodgeNet Solve, the hotels we serve can get real-time and archived reports on customer usage, bandwidth usage, device uptime, and other aspects of their HSIA network. And, as we move toward bundled solution offerings, LodgeNet Solve will be expanded to our media solutions as well, meaning that on-property personnel will be able to manage all platforms through a single, secure portal. We’re excited about this comprehensive, self serve tool that will help our customers better manage their networks and guest satisfaction. Read this press release for more information!
What’s New
VOD 2.0
- LodgeNet has launched a Promo Code feature to enhance our VOD 2.0 in-room entertainment initiative. Travelers who receive a numeric code (at check-in, online or through another channel), can enter that code through the guest room TV and order a movie or other popular programming at a substantially reduced price. These promotional campaigns are specifically tailored for travelers and are being carried out in partnership with other industry leading companies.
Free-To-Guest
- We've taken the first steps toward launching a new, 20-channel all HD free-to-guest (FTG) package. We are currently shutting down the THN Superblock at hotels currently receiving that package. While we have retained the existing Superblock channels wherever possible, it has been necessary to remove them at certain hotels.
In those cases we have replaced the discontinued channels with other highly requested channels from our LodgeNet Choice package. There is no cost to hotels and the number of channels in the hotel’s FTG lineup has not changed. We will be finishing this transition in all affected hotels by the end of 2011. Please read the FAQ for more information, or contact your LodgeNet representative if you have questions.
Blockbuster Hits
Did you know that LodgeNet gets the best Hollywood movies to your guests up to 60 days before they can buy them on DVD – and up to 90 days sooner than Netflix?
Here are some top movies playing in LodgeNet served hotel rooms right now:
- Contagion
- Moneyball
- The Hangover Part II
