Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza Overcomes Architectural Challenges with New Controller-Based Wireless Solution To Provide Enhanced Broadband Access to its Guests
Taking advantage of recent advances in controller-based wireless infrastructure, the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza is swapping out its traditional switch and access point architecture to a more adaptable controller-based network. The new infrastructure – provided by LodgeNet Interactive’s Broadband Internet Solutions group – will help overcome the challenges presented by the grand atrium that graces the hotel.
Controller-based wireless “listens” to use patterns and traffic levels and “moves” signal strength and channel patterns to quickly adapt to changes in usage. This is particularly significant in an open atrium environment, where more access points have the ability to cause interference with one another due to the lack of typical building interference such as ceilings and doors. This optimization of traffic patterns and channel paths greatly enhances the user experience with stronger signals and reduced access point confusion/conflict issues,
The Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza has been a LodgeNet customer since 2004.
